I’d say T2i is a pretty light camera to carry around especially with kit lens. This battery grip will make it rather heavy which could be good and bad depending on the situation. I personally like it. It doesn’t matter if you had big or smaller hands, it fits. Double battery, easier to shoot portrait, looking good, fits T2i perfectly. I would say it’s a must buy if it wasn’t expensive.(By the time I got it was about $170~$190) Made in Taiwan, not China.

This is my 3rd Canon camera with battery grip. The BG-E8, like the others, allow for Portrait shooting with all the normal controls (built into the BG) where they should be. The BG also makes for a better balance on a smaller (lighter) camera.

The fact that the BG also takes 2 batteries for longer shooting periods – or AA batteries – is an important feature not to be forgotten.

Paid a premium on this due to it being sold out elsewhere but it was essential to an upcoming video shoot. It adds nice weight to the T2i and makes the camera feel a bit more solid. The AA battery cartridge that comes along with it saved my shoot as I was out of juice on my E8 batteries with no way to recharge quickly. I popped six readily-available AA’s in and finished off the video shoot with no problems.

The grip is an accessory you should have for this camera. I do have larger hands, so holding the camera is a bit uncomfortable. But with the grip it helps out a lot.

Benefits of it: Can put in 2 battery packs to have lots of shooting time without switching. Also there are camera controls (trigger and other controls) on it which allow you to shoot vertical pictures without having to twist your hands.

While it adds some weight, the camera is actually too light for my taste. Adding this to it helps keep my shots steadier without having to rely too much on IS lenses.

I also had the appropriate grip on my Canon Rebel XTi and never took it off for years.

There is also an adapter included that will take AA batteries if you are desperate for power and forgot your charger.
