numerous parts smashed or dented.could not have happened during shipping.the back cover on control panel is smashed.starter cord is on right side next to frame, making it almost impossible to start.amazon item description states 420cc engine,14 hp.its really 13 hp and 389cc.lots of chips on top of gas tank.customer service at eastern tools want me to ship this to repair facility at my expense.in my opinion this is salvage material.i believe they are shipping leftover defective merchandise.for those who want to,take 3 screws off pull starter and turn 1/3 left and reattach.this puts starter handle in good position.good luck if you need parts.amy in norwalk ohio is less than helpful.shes actually a secretary.i dont expect this to be worthwhile investment.go to ebay and buy powermax cheaper.they have repair parts.no complaints about amazon.

I have owned the ETQ 8250 for 15 months. The generator has needed service 4 times and currently will not start.

This product was poorly assembled and several parts have vibrated loose during normal useage.

The starter has a defect and will not engage. The pull rope broke. The muffler vibrated off. The throttle control lost a screw and the governor spring keeps falling off.

Reliability is a very important aspect of a generator. The ETQ 8250 is not reliable, it is a frustrating piece of junk, a waste of money and time for anyone needing a generator.

Be smart, spend your money on a time proven generator. The initial extra expense is well worth not being left in the dark with a cheap generator that won’t start.

I bought this to keep around the house in case the power goes out. Like in a thunderstorm when I really need my sump pump. I also think I can use this to run my travel trailer. One thing to note is although this has ECO-THROTTLE it only throttles back when there is NO LOAD not LOW LOAD. At idle it is only going to put out about 35-45Hz and 80-90VAC instead of 60Hz/120VAC. It has a circuit to detect load and when it senses it it immediately jumps to full speed. I did not measure how much time it takes to go from idle to full speed when it detects a load but it seemed pretty quick considering the throttle/governor system is mechanical.

Even though I have not put it through it paces yet, the generator is well built. The battery was not hard to find when you have the right number. The type # in the instruction book is no good. I called Eastern Tools for the number at 888-908-6200. Availiable at Wal-Mart, number is ES12N94B1 for $30.00.

I pulled this baby out of the box and installed the wheels, collapsable handle and the footbrace. Then I poured in the oil, topped off the fuel tank, choked it a bit and the first pull she started right up. I gave my wife a quick lesson in the operation then let her start it up…no problem. I hooked up a few high amperage items like my compressor, deep freeze and a hair drier. I would reccomend this generator. Even if I have to use it just one time in the next 5 years, I feel as though it is money well spent.
