My first and biggest question is what makes a bedside alarm clock costs $ 200? (If you think the MSRP that is) or even $ 169. 99 on special offer at the time of writing this review. And after testing this nice gadget, the question remains.
I rated 4 stars for build quality and features, works well and does exactly what it says on the box.
view, however, I read a very high (or deep mattress set), so my night stand are well below eye level, meaning that I set the light brighter most people. A useful thing to remember when finding a place to set this down.
I can not remove stars because of the price, but considering that for about the same price you could get an internet radio alarm with iPod and CD and probably built in wireless printer (just kidding) it seems like an expensive “toy”.
Alarm manufacturers seek new ways to awaken, and I must say Philips seems to be ahead of the curve, and have at heart need with ideas like these things (and like the recent Blu Lite for example). Remember the clocks projection, following glowing digital time on the ceiling? those in the form of baseball that you could actually throw against the wall to turn off? Fun, but then again most of them did not cost about $ 20
It works well, but for the price you’d like another entry for the music, or function of wireless Internet access, I’m not a fan of the sound of a stream that flows, or in the jungle wake up I ‘m afraid.
Bottom line, if you can afford, go for it, I suspect like most of people with $ 169. 99 to spend, this will be well down the priority list.

Last fall I started to look nicer ways to wake up in the morning. I also find an alarm that would alert different sounds such as birdsong. After reading the reviews and watch videos on Philips HF3480 Wake-up Light on YouTube, I decided to order it. I was very excited when the alarm came. Waking up was easier / more pleasant as I wanted. However, after a while ‘I had to make up the strongest warning because it did not wake up, it was too nice Sometimes. The alarm clock is on my bedside spouses, and wakes up to it easily, I think I’m sleeping a bit ‘too far from it. I am also a heavy sleep, because of a hearing problem with my left ear. Also, I noticed that the alarm has an auto-off, which means that automatically shuts off after 1.5 hours. Some might think that this can be a bit ‘risky if you do not wake up from it, and my husband take a second alarm on his phone, but always wakes up before it goes off.
; Now more than half a year to use it every day / night I spent with most the alarm sounds and I mostly use the option of radio as the alarm sound. When it was winter light illuminated the room and he would wake from it (as it gradually). Now when there is more light in the morning (spring / summer) I really do not need it. Yet it is good to be used as a clock radio. The functionality is too beautiful sunset, though I do not use it every night. I noticed that the light flickers a bit ‘when it fades, but do not see it as a problem.
I also use the clock as a lamp at night and I’m not worried about the bulb to become the end of its life prematurely, as some had concerns. In Europe, I know, they sell a version that you can change the bulb if it breaks. I think if I died suddenly I would try to at least open my alarm to see if there is anything I can substitute. (Note: this practice is not recommended by the manufacturer, as I asked them.)
All in all I think I could become a morning person because of this watch. If it broke I would definitely buy one again.

I was considering buying this product to replace a defective Sunrise (Dawn) mortgage I enjoyed using. I was attracted by its low energy bulb, in contrast to the light bulb that my drive before using. However, to review the product manual, I found the following entry in the troubleshooting section:
Problem: The device works correctly, but the lamp no longer works. < br />
Solution: Perhaps the lamp has reached the end of his life. The lamp has a life expectancy of
more than 10,000 hours (more than 7 years of normal use
). Life depends on the use of the device. If
heavy use, the lamp can not last as long as expected. The lamp is not replaceable
. If the lamp breaks, contact the Philips Consumer
Service Center in your country.
The fact that the lamp is not replaceable is not disclosed in promotional material. I decided not to buy the unit.

I am a very happy owner and a regular user of Philips goLITE. I thought the Wake-up Light is a perfect complement to light therapy in the morning.
I’m disappointed. The maximum brightness level of the Wake-up Light is even remotely comparable to goLITE. I am a heavy sleeper and the Wake-up Light fails to wake me and the light does not feel more awake than usual, when I do. I fully understand that, like how I could benefit from its light with eyes closed.
All in all I think it is a very expensive alarm clock. Those in search of a cure for winter blues should definitely consider a goLITE instead.

I am a member of the duo at dawn, but I thought I’d leave a review of this product just because Phillips promptly replaced my unit after it has stopped working properly. I understand this product replaces the duo dawn. As a chronic insomniac I found this type of product that may be helpful. while not treating my sleep problems (but it certainly helps), I am no longer afraid of waking time in the morning. the alarm light is not only wakes me up more pleasant than a traditional alarm, but wake me up reliable as well. since I started using my day, I will not be without one of these in my bedroom. Highly recommended. I also see this be a good gift for people who are close to since it is so nice to have.
