The left pedal did not attach to the crank during assembly. The screw and/or attaching point were not cut properly for attachment. I ordered a refund/replacement from Amazon. When the second bike came it had the exact same defect. Also, the wrong handle-bar tightening screw came with the replacement. In the end, I had to attach my duplicate right-hand pedal from the first order to the second bike, and am not sure if the bike will last in this condition. I WILL NEVER BUY SCHWINN AGAIN!!! And if Amazon does not cover the full price and shipping of the original (30 days or not) I will never shop this site again either.

There has been a long problem with Schwinn exercise bikes, the dreaded e-2 error. I have the 112 and have been fighting the e-2 error issue for four years (anger will keep you going and from throwing it and my money away). I’m on the fourth motor assembly. I called Schwinn today 7/20/2009 and they said they cannot ship me anymore motors, since this last one was just over a year old. I’ve actually isolated it down to an electronic component called a potentiometer. It’s a $3.00 part at Radio Shack, but needs to be matched exactly to the original specification and I can’t seem to get the right one. The ones in the bikes are defective. However, after four years of removing and reinstalling motors I’m done. No more Schwinn’s or Nautilus, Inc products. If you are looking to buy, beware. This problem has been going on for a long time and who knows if they are still putting these defective products in the new models. I wouldn’t waste good money to find out. Go with another brand.

The Bike came with a big gash, and looked like it had once been put together and taken apart (wear from screws on body was Evident). Why did AMAZON send me someone’s reject? But I decided to put it together anyway–big mistake. The batteries they give you lasted one day. Bought new batteries and they didn’t last for more than two weeks (no ON and OFF switch–are the batteries burning out while the bike is not in use?). Finally I got it running but the instructions for setting the computer gizmo suck, And now, after two weeks, with third set of new batteries, the computer doesn’t work and there is NO RESISTANCE. Zero, no matter how many ways I try to set it, the computer just goes haywire. I have put time and money into this bike and now must take it apart and see if i can fit it back into the box. What a nightmare.

The seat is pointed up too much and there is no way to adjust the angle of the seat. It is very uncomfortable, so I used a pillow to make it feel better. Otherwise, the bike seems to be just fine. It was easy to assemble and takes about 30 minutes.
